What is mold toxicity?

Mold toxicity is not synonymous with a mold allergy, which is one of the most common causes of allergies and asthma. Mold allergies are caused by exposure to mold spores that cause symptoms that manifest in the sinuses and lungs.

Mold toxicity, on the other hand, is caused by mycotoxins, or poisons produced by mold that can cause various symptoms at varying levels of exposure, making mold toxicity a difficult disorder to diagnose and understand. Since there are hundreds of different mold toxins, each with many possible side effects, mold toxicity can affect any system of the body and manifests itself differently from patient to patient. Mold toxins are capable of suppressing the immune system, damaging and killing cells, impairing mitochondrial function, and interfering with the nervous system.

How is mold toxicity diagnosed?

Unfortunately, diagnosing mold-related illnesses remains quite controversial today. In fact, few physicians are trained to look to mold as a possible cause for chronic illness symptoms, and even fewer know how to test for it. Not only is mold itself difficult to detect in homes and buildings, but without access to proper testing and a doctor who is well versed in responding to mold-related illnesses, many patients have difficulty finding long-lasting relief.

At the Biologix Center, we do more than provide temporary symptom relief. Using our drug-free, innovative, and exclusive technology, we will work to identify and address the underlying causes to improve your entire body’s functions, restoring you to optimal health. What are the symptoms of mold toxicity?

As stated above, mold manifests itself differently within each patient, making it a difficult disorder to catch. However, our patients commonly report the following symptoms.

Fatigue & Insomnia

Those who suffer from mold toxicity symptoms have difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep. In fact, some patients notice stabbing headaches and/or urinary incontinence which can each play a role in disrupting the quality of their sleep.

Difficulty Concentrating

Also known as “brain fog,” patients with mold toxicity symptoms describe a difficulty remaining focused for longer periods of time.

Musculoskeletal Pain

Those with mold toxicity often report joint and muscle pain, muscle cramps, and muscle twitches as well as a feeling of general weakness.

Stomach Pain

Some people suffering from mold-related symptoms experience bloating, queasiness, stomach pain, constipation, and diarrhea, not unlike symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome.

Heightened Sensitivity

Patients with mold toxicity symptoms are often much more sensitive to cold, heat, light, and/or sound. Some may notice dry mouth, nose, and eyes, or even a bloody nose. Some experience an intolerance to fragrances and chemicals as well as a sensitivity to light.

Numbness or Nerve Pain

Those with mold toxicity symptoms may notice a tingling or numbing feeling in their arms, legs, hands, feet, or face. Some also notice nerve pain and/or dizziness.

Skin Issues

Rashes and itching (pruritus) are not uncommon symptoms of mold toxicity.

Hormonal Changes

Some patients notice continuous dehydration, sweet cravings, weight gain or loss, excessive thirst, night sweats, and/or poor temperature regulation due to hormonal issues caused by mold’s mycotoxins.

Depression & Anxiety

Coping with persistent symptoms leaves many patients feeling nervous, worried, and/or hopeless. Reach out to a friend, family member, or counselor for extra support during your battle with mold-related symptoms.

How is mold toxicity typically treated?

The reality is that diagnosing and treating mold-related illness is not part of a traditional medical doctor’s curriculum, which is why the majority of medical doctors typically prescribe pain relievers, muscle relaxers, antidepressants, and sleep aids, depending on each patient’s most noticeable symptoms and their severity. They do not take into account the negative effect these drugs could very well have on other systems of the body.

It is for this reason that many patients suffer for years before finding a true diagnosis and successful treatment approach.

How does the Biologix Center treat mold toxicity differently?

While the prevailing medical thought is to first and foremost mask the symptoms by prescribing pain-relievers for pain, antihistamines for sensitivities, and purple pills for stomach pain, none of these drugs address the symptoms’ underlying causes. The Biologix Center believes in using precise, real-time testing and treatments that target the multiple imbalances in the body, enabling the body to naturally and often rapidly achieve lasting relief. The goal is to achieve the long-term restoration of health without encouraging a dependence upon medications.

Using tests such as Biospectroscopic Emission Sequence Testing (BEST), developed at the Biologix Center over 20 years ago by Dr. David A. Jernigan, D.C., we can eliminate much of the guesswork in doctoring. Unlike conventional blood tests that produce merely a snapshot of a patient’s blood on the day it was drawn, our constantly evolving technologies provide far more insight into the root causes of a patient’s symptoms as well as treatment options that are tested for compatibility and effectiveness for each patient’s unique body, before even beginning treatment.

Every system of the body is interconnected and interdependent, meaning that each system must be precisely addressed in order for the body to achieve optimal health. Health care delivery is often a minimalistic approach. It is far easier to prescribe a painkiller or antibiotic than to provide the maximum applied effort needed to truly restore the optimum form and function of the body. The Biologix Center’s approach is for those who truly desire to be well, not just feel well from drug-induced illusions of health. The best of every healing method and testing is brought to your unique case, in one-on-one, hour-long treatment sessions with the doctor treating you.
